The great-grandson of Dabur India Ltd’s founder Dr S.K Burman, Mr. Pradip Burman is one of the founders of Sustainable Development Society (SUNDESH).
A visionary entrepreneur and philanthropist, Mr Burman has been working in the areas of Education, Women Empowerment and Environment Sustainability, and campaigning for social changes since a young age. He has been instrumental in rolling out various programmes aimed at improving the livelihood of the poor in India.
He has been the driving force behind several health, family and rural development projects in rural India with Sundesh, long before the CSR rules were framed in India. These projects continue to get his visionary inputs even today. Starting from a small set-up in rural Uttar Pradesh, he has over the year helped expand the activities of SUNDESH into Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh
Mr. Burman later went on to form a non-profit organization Mobius Foundation in 2015, which is working towards achieving Environmental Sustainability. He is also a Trustee of the Climate Reality Project – India (affiliated to Mr. Al Gore of the Climate Reality Project Foundation, USA).
He has also worked as the Chairman of the Governing Body (Aug 1986 to June 1999) at PHDCCI-Rural Development Foundation, Delhi, a non-profit organization working on socio-economic activities of the rural areas. After a Corporate career spanning several
decades, he is now giving back to the society by devoting himself to the cause of Rural Development and Environment Sustainability. He now spends most of his time on the various charities and development organisations he has set up in
Mr Pradip Burman is a BS (Mech. Engg.) from M.I.T., USA (1965). An avid reader, his other interests are Ecology & Environment and Music.
